LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - May 17, 2022
Pediatric medical devices are important tools for the diagnosis and management of disease in children, but they are also critical in supporting and facilitating the activities of daily living of individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities. As such, they exist at an important nexus between healthcare and disability justice. Patient perspectives are not always incorporated into the design and development of medical devices, which has led to medical products that are focused on surviving, rather than thriving. To help bring attention to this important issue, CTIP is hosting two events this month, bringing together stakeholders from different sectors to discuss their perspectives, current efforts to increase patient participation in the process, and what more can be done at institutional and systems levels.
