CTIP Partners with ScaleLA for Free Health Innovation Programming for All Entrepreneurs during COVID-19 Outbreak

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -  March 30, 2020 -The West Coast Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP) partners with ScaleLA for free health innovation programming for all entrepreneurs, including CTIP portfolio companies, during the COVID-19 outbreak. Beginning April 1st, ScaleLA will be offering its programming for free to all members of the health innovation community including partners, portfolio companies, and entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 outbreak. Previously, these hour-long sessions were only available to ScaleLA members.

Several prominent organizations from the health innovation sector are teaming up with ScaleLA on this initiative to ensure the health of the country and the continued growth of the entrepreneurial community, including but not limited to Crosscut Ventures, Octane, CTIP, Vinaj, and Tau Ventures.

ScaleLA CEO Taylor McPartland announced the offer, stating “We want to do everything we can to ensure that entrepreneurs have the knowledge and resources they need to do the important work of healing our communities in the wake of COVID-19. The last thing we want is for cost to get in the way of that progress. Giving away our programming for free seemed like the best place to start.”

“CTIP operates as a virtual Pediatric MedTech Accelerator. Creating programming and partnerships that are accessible to our portfolio of 89+ medical device companies spanning 20+ states is a priority. We are thrilled that those in our ecosystem like ScaleLA have expanded their offerings to reach additional healthcare innovators and encourage these innovators to take advantage of these resources during this unprecedented time,” said Kathryne Cooper, MBA, Co-Director of CTIP.

ScaleLA Communications Director David Turkell stressed the urgency of expanding programming right now and stated, “ScaleLA’s focus is to improve the health of our community, so as all of us are facing the reality of a global pandemic, we must do everything we can to ensure that our ecosystem is protected and prepared with knowledge and resources to not only stop the spread of COVID-19, but to also ensure that small businesses and startups can successfully manage their businesses and navigate a rocky economy.”

Included among the CTIP ecosystem and ScaleLA’s partners are many of the region’s most prominent healthcare providers and entrepreneurial executives such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti. Just over a year ago, ScaleLA opened a 15,000 square foot innovation space dedicated to the growth and prosperity of the healthcare ecosystem. Already, over 100 healthcare, life science, and medical device startups have joined the community to collaborate, build partnerships, secure investments, and implement their vision for a stronger, healthier region. ScaleLA and participating startups aim to serve one million patients by 2025.
