Alex Shandiz thrives on partnerships that solve for the impossible. Driven by a passion for entrepreneurial innovation, Alex has fostered teams and processes that connect the dots from ideation to productization. Alex holds a BA in psychology from the University of Denver, a MS in occupational therapy from Rush University and is a current MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management specializing in healthcare and technology. She began her career in business, pivoting into medicine where she led teams as an occupational therapist in pediatric critical care. Alex now works on the Digital Care Delivery team at Anthem – driving identification, business strategic alignment, and partnership with early stage digital health start-ups poised to scale. She is also part of the team leading the largest ongoing digital health RCT to date studying wearables supporting patients with asthma (tinyurl.com/5cfnkwxy). She has served on the board for the UCLA Anderson Healthcare Business Association, mentored high school students pursuing a career in healthcare through the UCLA Riordan Scholars, and lobbied for funding as the Chair of the Illinois Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee. Alex is a passionate advocate for research and innovation in the diabetes space. As the parent of a six year old with Type 1 Diabetes, she has the unique perspective as a med tech consumer, clinician, and care provider.
